This year, The Washtenaw 100 will grant a total of nearly $20,000 to area police and fire departments to help them obtain needed new equipment for safe and effective emergency response:
- The City of Ann Arbor’s Police Department will receive almost $6,000 from W100 to purchase all-terrain bicycles for use by officers while on duty.
- Salem Township’s HAZMAT team will use their W100 grant of nearly $6,400 for new safety equipment.
- Scio Township’s Fire Department has been granted over $4,300 to acquire new ventilator fans.
- The City of Saline’s Police Department is receiving the fourth and final installment of $1,856, from a total grant of over $7,300, begun in 2018, to complete the purchase of tasers.
In previous years, W100 has also provided grants for equipment to the City of Ann Arbor’s Fire Department, Pittsfield Township’s Police Department, Augusta Township’s Fire Department, Northfield Township’s Fire Department, and Washtenaw County’s SWAT-CNT teams. Since 2018, W100 grants to departments have totaled almost $42,000.
Through these grants, we help our county’s police and fire departments best prepare to protect our communities. What could be better than that? If you’d like to support W100 in this goal, please consider joining our club or donating.
