This month Chelsea Police Chief Edward Toth will retire after 16 distinguished years on the job.
“The time is right,” said Chief Toth as he announced his retirement to the Chelsea City Council this past February. Chief Toth was giving the city an early alert to his retirement plans; he will officially stay on the job until August 15.
Ed Toth came to Chelsea’s Police Department in 2006, after many years with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. Among the highlights of Chief Toth’s service to Chelsea was his overseeing of the department’s move to a brand-new modern police station in 2012. The department had suffered with a dated and mold-infested station for some years before that.
Congratulations to Chief Toth! May he throughly enjoy his well-earned retirement.
