Last month, at The Washtenaw 100’s Annual Dinner, two of our area’s finest public safety professionals were recognized for excellence.

Craig Sidelinger, Training Officer for the City of Ann Arbor’s Fire Department, was honored posthumously as Firefighter of the Year.

Deputy James Roy of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Association earned the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award.

Watch this website for more information on these award winners in the coming months.

Just under 200 people attended The Washtenaw 100’s Annual Dinner, which occurred on the evening of Thursday, October 21 at Travis Pointe Country Club.

Proceeds from the dinner’s ticket sales and silent auction will help fund The Washtenaw 100’s future awards of college scholarships to children of local police and firefighting professionals, and grants to area police and fire departments for new for safety equipment and programs.

Local author John U. Bacon was the dinner’s keynote speaker. His most recent book, Let Them Lead: Unexpected Lessons in Leadership from America’s Worst High School Hockey Team, released in September, has continued Bacon’s string of New York Times best-selling books.
